Dunlop has presented in society a new tire designed for all those who look for versatility when facing a trip whatever your mount, from road-focused adventure bikes to hyper-naked.
We talk about Dunlop RoadSmart IV by 2022, the most versatile sports touring tire in its range to date. To achieve this, this model uses a combination of innovative technologies with the aim of creating new standards in handling, stability and wet grip among others.
RoadSmart IV: two different versions depending on the bike
The sport touring segment has changed dramatically in recent years due to mainly to the superposition of genres with each other. These days, no one is surprised to see naked roadsters or adventure motorcycles focused on the road. That's why Dunlop has taken all of these factors into account when updating its versatile RoadSmart tire.
After a long research process in which they asked what the users of this type of motorcycle needed, they came to a clear conclusion. His tire must have been worth so much to those who make long-distance tourism such as those who used their motorcycles for fun Sunday morning.
And not just any tire was worth it, motorists wanted one that was capable of offering a perfect balance between dry performance and exceptional wet grip, and that in addition, it had a neutral and stable behavior to offer a constant performance even after several thousand kilometers.
With these premises, the RoadSmart IV was born. In fact, has been developed to fit 17 of the 20 best-selling motorcycles in Europe. From road users with adventure bikes like the BMW R1250GS, to crossovers like the Yamaha Tracer or roadsters like the Yamaha MT or Kawasaki Z. All with the aim of creating an incredibly versatile tire in the most popular sizes (120 / 70Z R17 front; 180 / 55Z R17 and 190 / 55Z R17 rear).
As this tire can cover different types of motorcycle, Dunlop has created two different versions of the RoadSmart IV. A variant called SP, optimized for lighter and sporty road machines; and a second option called GT, tuned to give larger touring bikes greater drivability. They all feature a Dunlop proprietary technology package, with the innovative compound incorporating four all-new grip resins and the JointLess Tread (jointless tread) application for key sizes.

The Dunlop RoadSmart IV will rank in the Dunlop range above the RoadSmart III, winner of various tests. With a range of 21 sizes and 24 references, the RoadSmart IV carries Dunlop's RoadSmart range of sports touring tires to more than 40 sizes and covering more than 700 models.
