It seems that the renewal of the Yamaha MT-10 is closer than it seems. At least that we can deduce from the latest documents registered in the European Union, where we can see the emission and performance figures that the 2022 model will have.

Some documents that we have learned thanks to our English colleagues from Bennetts. As the British portal points out, the new Yamaha MT-10 it will evolve by improving its figures for both maximum speed and power, while being a lighter set.

Yamaha MT-10: at the moment we are left without turbocharger

Since Yamaha launched the MT-10 back in 2016 we had hardly seen significant changes in these last five years. It is true that, depending on the use we were to make of the bike, you could choose between the SP version (prepared to get all its "juice" on the track) or transform it into an incredibly comfortable naked Tourer with its luggage pack.

However, it seems that Iwata's they have radically changed their minds looking ahead to 2022. Or at least that we can deduce from the recent figures registered by Yamaha in Europe on the emissions and performance that will mark its new Yamaha MT-10 2022.

Mechanically it will remain the same. Despite the fact that last year we were talking about the possible introduction of a turbocharger to improve both performance and pollution figures in the face of a possible Euro 6, in the end it has not been the case. It seems that we'll have to wait a little longer to see this type of technology implemented in the MT-10 as we can already see in other motorcycles on the market such as the Kawasaki H2 SX.

What we can see in the homologation papers of this naked is that it will continue to have the same CP4 engine prepared for Euro 5, derived directly from the Yamaha YZF-R1 but, reducing its power from 200 hp to 166 hp. An improvement over the previous 6 hp model that achieves the same revs as before (11,500 rpm). Of course, the maximum speed and torque have also been increased, now taking 249 km / h and going from 111 Nm to 112 Nm at 9,000 rpm.

Aesthetically it seems that it will change to resemble its little sisters, the Yamaha MT-07 and MT-09, leaving behind its front double headlight and betting on a simple lighthouse. Where we will also see an obvious change compared to the previous generation is in its size.

According to the papers, its wheelbase will grow from 1,405 mm to 1,455 mm; as well as its height, going from 1,110 mm to 1,165 mm. Its weight will also vary from 210 kg to 212 kg due, surely, to the incorporation of a new exhaust with catalyst. This same two-kilo weight gain will also grow in the SP version.

Technologically nothing appears in these papers, but it could incorporate a LCD instrumentation with Android and Apple connection to manage and plan our mobile routes from your screen. Nor do we rule out that it makes use of the six-axis inertial measurement platform that the Yamaha MT-09 has already released.

This is all we know so far. Although there is nothing officially announced, it is very likely that the new Yamaha MT-10 will make its debut at the end of November at the EICMA 2021 Motorcycle Show to be held in Milan.
