Ducati, that company characterized by creating heart attack bikes with timeless designs He does not believe that electric power can power his motorcycles at the moment. However, this data has not stopped Italdesign from imagining what an electric model of the Italian firm would look like creating this preciousness.
It is the Ducati 860-e, a very attractive motorcycle that is inspired by the mythical Ducati 860 GT of the 70s but updating its appearance to bring it into the 21st century. At the moment only has been presented as a concept but it cannot be ruled out that a collaboration between the two firms brings this precious prototype to reality.
A very futuristic reinterpretation of the Ducati 860 GT
If there is a company that is authorized to create impressive, transgressive and above all, very beautiful designs, it is Italdesign. Founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani in Turin in 1968, it has produced very successful prototypes for the automotive world. To give you an idea of its importance, this design studio created, among others, the original Volkswagen Golf or the Alfa 159.
On this occasion, the Italian company wanted to pay tribute to another of its classic designs (and incidentally send a nod to Ducati) with the reinterpretation of your 1974 Ducati 860 GT. A motorcycle that was perhaps too advanced for its time and that did not materialize as a product. However, it did define some of the characteristics of the time in Ducati as its square shapes.
Some forms that in this electric motorcycle called Ducati 860-e have been respected to the maximum but updated for the new era. You just have to see the false tank with a square shape and flat roof with side openings, extracted almost directly from the motorcycle in which it is inspired. We can't miss that one either single headlight type Ducati Monster with LED technology that gives an image of the most impressive.
The design flows around the entire machine and to modernize it it has also been fitted with an inverted front suspension and a single-sided rear suspension, radial brake calipers or a toothed belt drive. Regarding the engine, Italdesign does not specify anything, but assuming that this bike is equal to a current naked one, it should count c with at least 80 hp of power and a range of about 200/300 kilometers. Of course, the sensations when accelerating should be brutal so that you do not lose the essence of the brand.
Unfortunately this design exercise does not look like it will be done in the near future. Nevertheless, Italdesign has already built a bridge to Ducati so you know where you can go when building an electric motorcycle. A proposal that we think is the most successful and that we are looking forward to seeing.
