The announcement of the Yamaha R6 RACE has brought with it the surprise of the disappearance of the YZR-R6 street, a sports car whose last evolution we had known three years ago and that now is going to remain exclusively for use on the track.
It maintains the same 559cc 4-cylinder engine and pretty much everything from before, but now it will be offered at a slightly lower price, free of taxes, as well as with the GYTR Stage 1 package for those looking for a more radical leap to the next level.
The new R6 will only be valid for free runs or competitions
With the premiere of the Yamaha R6 RACE we have to say goodbye to the street configuration of the Yamaha YZR-R6, which can be kept in dealerships only until the end of 2021 and always talking about the units that remain in stock.
And it is that the new R6 RACE arrives exclusively for use in circuit by maintaining the 559 cc, 117 hp four-cylinder engine, a block that has not been adapted to the new emissions regulations and that remains together with the same cycle part and the rest of the components with which it was released in 2017.
Although this motorcycle has not been priced, when it is on sale January 2021 You can do it at a tighter cost than before, since you save the taxes of 15,850 euros that you have to pay right now to get one of the street versions.
At the same time the GYTR Stage 1 kit, a package of improvements brought from the world of competition and with which it will increase the performance of the standard Yamaha R6 RACE. Among the components that this kit will add, there is a more aerodynamic racing fairing, a titanium-finished exhaust system courtesy of Akrapovic, a new redesigned ECU control unit and many other components with FIM homologation so that it is ready to roll in competitions.
