The KTM 1290 Super Duke R it has always been a fascinating bike. The Austrian maxinaked is one of those motorcycles that you hate or love aesthetically, but when you get on it you forget your prejudices because it has an extremely marked character.

The Euro5 regulation has filtered part of the viscerality that the model had (be careful, part, it still has very bad milk), and perhaps that is why those of Mattighofen would have been encouraged to take a slightly more radical version of the model: the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR. Yes, with double r.

There are many motorcycles on the market, but there are not many that can compare with what the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. It may not be the fastest or the prettiest, but it sure feels like one of the most outstanding motorcycles.

To further fine-tune the most brutal creation of the Austrian house, KTM is preparing the arrival of a more radical motorcycle. A unit on the road has already been seen rolling with these modifications that would include a body with carbon fiber elements, lighter rims (possibly forged) and possibly more efficient suspensions like the WP Apex Pro with antifriction treatment.

In addition, the unit sighted has also been modified to use a different subframe with a more stylized single-seat tail and single-seater seat, although as with the KTM 890 Duke R it could optionally mount a seat and footpegs. There are also modifications to the fork dropouts with air channels for the brake calipers to improve cooling, although it seems that the radial Brembo calipers do not change.

Where there will be no changes will be in the engine, since the same twin-cylinder propeller will be maintained in vee at 75º of 1,301 cc with 177 hp. At least that's what the homologation documents that have leaked from both Germany and the United States say. What does vary slightly is the amount of emissions, with a slightly higher figure for carbon monoxide and less hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides.

Assuming the same power figure, these data would point to slight variations in the intake and / or exhaust line including an Akrapovic homologated as standard, or perhaps a mapping with tweaks for the control unit. In any case, the kick of the twin cylinder would be huge thanks to the 140 Nm of torque.

This new KTM 1290 Super Duke RR should arrive like model 2022, in a response perhaps against Ducati and its superb Ducati Streetfighter V4. Completely different motorcycles but with similar audiences.
