And it came! Today is a special day for Borgo Panigale fans. The Streetfighter is back with a prototype racing preview for Pikes Peak International Hill Climb: the 2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4.
With the launch of this racing unit developed to compete in the race to the clouds, Ducati finally confirms that 2020 will be the year when its Streetfighters come to life again, and they will do so with a proposal more radical than ever taking the base of the Ducati Panigale V4.
2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4: a naked sports car without compromise
Externally, Ducati's work has not been limited to stripping the Panigale, but they have used their knowledge in aerodynamics to apply radiator caps on which a couple of aerodynamic appendages on each side as on the Panigale V4 R. Otherwise: a lower keel, the same tail of the Panigale and a front with two large intake intakes and space to house headlights on the street model. A fearsome look.
The modifications seem that at least in this prototype they are limited to a flat handlebar, the bodywork and the cosmetic aspect. Even the escape signed by Akrapovic It is the same as on the Panigale V4, made of titanium and signed by Ducati Performance.
And it is that the Ducati Streetfighter V4 inherits something more than the Desmosedici Stradale four-cylinder engine in vee at 90º from the sports car of the family, taking at least in the prototype the entire cycle part of the most performance version of the house with the chassis monocoque, aluminum single-sided swingarm, Öhlins suspensions and powerful Brembo brakes.
The specifications of the prototype are still unknown but everything indicates that the engine has remained more or less unchanged with respect to the 1,103 cubic centimeter version of the street versions that offers 214 hp of maximum power. The engine's ability to breathe and maintain performance will be critical as you approach the Pikes Peak finish line. It is possible that in the final Streetfighter V4 this figure is reduced below 200 hp.
Will be next June 30th when Carlin Dunne faces Pikes Peak, a race against the clock that is decided in an all or nothing, to a single exit to cover an ascent of 19, 99 kilometers with more than 1,440 meters of unevenness and 156 curves that culminate in a goal to more than 4,000 meters high.
What Ducati has revealed is that the final production Ducati Streetfighter V4 2020 will be presented at the next Milan Motor Show 2019, and which will arrive in dealerships at the end of March 2020.
