Chaz Davies has said goodbye to Ducati, and maybe the World Superbike, with an imperial victory at Estoril. The British rider was very aggressive in the opening laps to prevent Toprak Razgatlioglu from escaping and thus gives the world team title to Aruba.it, the official Ducati, also thanks to second place from Scott Redding.
The shock was taken by Kawasaki in the world of brands, because Jonathan Rea fell fighting for the podium, and shortly after Alex Lowes did the same. In the end it was the Spanish Xavi Forés who, with his eighth position, has allowed Kawasaki to win the world championship from Ducati by a single point. Rea hugged him relieved after the race.

In the Superpole Race it was another ride from Toprak Razgatlioglu, who escaped from the first corners. Yamaha achieved its first treble since racing in Superbikes thanks to Garrett Gerloff and Michael van der Mark completing the drawer. Jonathan Rea and Scott Redding managed to come back to come out on top in the last date of the year.
At the start, Razgatlioglu kept the first position, while the one who made a good start was Chaz Davies, who did not want the Turk to get away. Rea was fifth, ahead of Redding. In the second lap Davies took the lead, while the two leaders of the general classification gave an account of van der Mark.
When he was third, Gerloff went to the ground, which already left Rea in direct vision of the two leaders. The champion came at a fast lap pace. He saw on and already had Razgatlioglu trapped. Rea was determined to win at a new circuit, and fourteen laps from the end he passed the Turk, although he defended himself by releasing brakes.
Rea was very aggressive and made his first mistake of the season. It was falling trying to pass Razgatlioglu, and miraculously did not throw the Turk to the ground. An accident that is not serious for his world championship but it is for the brand, where Ducati still had options to overtake Kawasaki. Now they were in the hands of Alex Lowes, fifth.
The race was quite stable, with Davies leading with two seconds over Razgatlioglu and the Turk in turn with a similar advantage over Redding. The biggest battle was for sixth position between the two Honda, at the moment with Álvaro Bautista ahead. Jonathan Rea had gotten up but was rolling out of the points.
Xavi Forés was also in full battle to achieve his best result of the year. He was ninth, but glued to Loris Baz and Leon Haslam. Redding was hunting Razgatlioglu and Lowes was falling from behind. A real disaster for Kawasaki, since now the brand title was in the hands of Forés, seventh.
Three turns from the end Redding placed second, on course to give Ducati's Aruba.it the teams title. The emotion was in what Forés managed to do, because if he lost more places he could cause the defeat of Kawasaki in the world of brands. With reaching the goal, it seemed that he was assured.
Victory for Chaz Davies, who says goodbye with a victory for Ducati and perhaps Superbikes. Redding second and Razgatlioglu third, but Xavi Forés rescues the brand title for Kawasaki with his eighth position. Álvaro Bautista manages to get fifth while Jonathan Rea finally adds two points, fourteenth.
