OX Riders is a Spanish company that decided to bet everything on the black with electric mobility and announced in September of last year that very soon we would see a electric motorbike smart and relatively accessible to our pockets.
Five months later, the Bilbao company has confirmed to us that they will not only release one model, but two: the Ox One and the Ox One S. Two versions that can be driven even with a car license with three years of experience.
A motorcycle that is committed to mixing retro aesthetics and technology
As has become common in electric mobility, it is more common for low-power products destined for the city to reach us and to be able to make a little move in the suburbs. That is precisely what the Ox One seeks, to offer a electric motorcycle with a retro aesthetic and for everyday use.
In just over a year, the Bilbao company has gone from an intangible project to even making the first tests of its models with some clients who may be interested. Of course, it has not come with everything that was announced at the time. The company confirms that for the moment they are putting their idea of using biodegradable 3D parts on hold.
The Ox One It is the cheapest model of the two and also the one with less power. It resembles a 50 cc combustion motorcycle and has a power of 3 kW (4 hp) allowing it to reach a top speed of 49 km / h. The Ox One S could be compared to a 125cc motorcycle with its 5 kW (6.7 hp) of power that would allow it to reach a maximum speed of 110 km / h.
As a source of energy they resort to two removable batteries (each weighing 11 kg) of 72 V and 40 Ah. With them they have a approximate autonomy of 100 km and it takes about two hours to recharge to 80%. They are motorcycles that seem quite light at first glance and the scale confirms this by stopping the needle at 75 kg in the Ox One and at 80 kg in the case of the Ox One S.
In the mechanical section, both models use a hydraulic suspension, combined braking and 17-inch spoke wheels on both axles. They also have the same proportions: 2 meters in length, 65 cm in width and 1, 15 meters in height.
The technology It is one of the strengths of this bike. It not only uses LED headlights for lighting, but also includes a package called Smartbox that allows know the status of the machine from the mobile. In fact, it can be placed on the motorcycle and act as an on-board computer to control the GPS, the theft alert, the remaining battery charge, our driving style or the location of our vehicle, among other options.
The company recognizes that some elements are still under development. For example, you have a anti-ramming system that uses sensors that capture what surrounds the motorcycle. In the event that there is any danger, it will warn the pilot by means of a vibration in the corresponding lever, according to the direction of the danger. In addition, in the event of an accident, the motorcycle itself will notify emergencies and indicate our medical profile and the place of the accident.
The Ox One and the Ox One S can now be booked through the web through two payment methods: 'I am Ox Riders' and 'I am a founder'. In the first one it is allowed to advance a entry of 390 euros (This includes a pack with various elements such as a company t-shirt or a 10% discount on the Smart-Box equipment). In the other form of payment, we support the total cost of the motorcycle and we also receive a series of gifts.
In the case of the less powerful version, the price starts from the 3,900 euros and the Ox One S part of the 4,900 euros. Although in their press release they announced that the first deliveries would arrive in July, they have also confirmed that they are studying delaying this deadline until December.
