Ford he remembers cyclists and their safety from time to time. If by August 2018 he already took out a smart jacket that guided them and signaled for them, now he is again announcing another jacket that also cares about the safety of that group.

The new clothing aims to unite ties between cyclists, bikers and other road users through digital emoticons that appear on your back with the ultimate aim of preventing accidents.

The objective is that cyclists suffer fewer accidents

The jacket It has some LEDs on its back that cover the entire surface of the back and that are illuminated by drawing a series of emojis. These emoticons do not appear alone, but it is the cyclist who chooses which symbol he wants those drivers behind him to see.

It does so from a panel full of buttons placed on the handlebar from which you can select the turn signals, a danger sign, a smiling face, a sad face and even another that we could call indifference.

The idea of its creators is that the Emoji Jacket "It allows cyclists to express their feelings and create an emotional bond with the other occupants of the road." According to Ford engineers, the control panel is designed to distract the cyclist as little as possible, something that we could question since its position on the handlebar would force him to lower his head and lose sight of the circulation.

At the moment it is only a prototype and is not for sale. It is part of the 'Share the road' campaign in which the objective is to have fewer accidents and to make the road as less dangerous as possible.

In 2019, 40 cyclists died in Spain on the road by accident, according to data from the DGT. In Europe the figure was 2,000 deaths a year. If this jacket is going to help reduce numbers, then it will be welcome, if it ever makes it through the testing phase.
