The Aprilia RS 660 will arrive in 2020 to inject adrenaline into the sports bikes of the A2 license

That this new model will be attractive is obvious. The fairing is clearly inspired by the Aprilia RSV4, but modernized. The front end will still have a triple optics in which now for the first time the indicators could be included in the lateral ends of the headlights if the configuration of the prototype is maintained.

And it is that Aprilia has said that it is more than likely that what we could see at the Milan Motor Show 2018 is a very close proposal for the production version, although it can always be subject to variations. What is more or less clear is that the RS 660 that will arrive at least in 2020 will have to be a raised model to be able to exceed Euro 5 regulations.

Precisely in terms of the engine, a few more details have been known and that is that its parallel twin of 660 cubic centimeters will be tight, but not too much. Aprilia has announced that will produce 95 hp, suitable for the A2 license, but knowing those of Noale it is more than likely that the Aprilia RS 660 will appear in a full power version to delight the most burned but who do not need the 200 hp of a Superbike.

As an accessory, the RS 660 would be the first application of a new range of medium-displacement motorcycles from the Italian brand. Aprilia would be working on a new range derived from this twin-cylinder engine and the aluminum chassis used in the prototype, a range that would probably have a small Tuono and that could replace the current Shiver and Dorsoduro.

Being a motorcycle that would be created in the image and likeness of the successful RSV4, the Aprilia RS 660 will predictably equip a complete electronic section quite complete (the brand's APRC) with driving modes, traction control, ABS cornering assistance… and it will promise strong emotions with a well-tuned cycle part, although here it will come into conflict.

Aprilia is going to enter the segment of intermediate sports bikes almost unexplored to date, that of the new Supersports, with contained powers but also with prices to match. If Aprilia wants to stay in a price around 10,000 euros he will have to tighten his belt with the equipment and we will hardly see the Öhlins suspensions and the Brembo brakes of the prototype, unless a Factory version equipped up to the eyebrows is removed from the sleeve.

At the moment we can just keep waiting until Aprilia makes its intentions clear next fall, but an RSV4 with half the engine, an even tighter size and a much more contained weight is probably one of the funniest bikes we could ever want to throw at. Glove.
