"Inspired by the new category of Supersport 300", they are so blunt as soon as they begin the statement that comes to us from the new KTM RC 390R. And it is that if it is not true, it lacks little, because it is the most radical version of the small sports car from KTM and possibly one of the best equipped medium / low displacement sports.
If the recently renewed KTM RC 390 is already one of the best equipped sports cars in its segment, the R version goes one step further to become a purely passionate machine and equipped to the teeth; a whole circuit motorcycle with which to enjoy to the maximum no matter how old you are.
KTM RC 390R: Everything Ready To Race
Added to the critically acclaimed multi-tube steel chassis with superb stability is a set of WP suspensions both on the front and rear axles fully adjustable to find the ideal settings for each rider and / or circuit.
The upper seatpost that grips the fork legs has been changed to a new, lighter and more robust mechanized one, which also mounts semi-handlebars with a much more attacking stance, as well as being able to adjust according to the size or style of each rider. The levers are also new, mechanized and foldable to avoid breakage in case of ending up on the ground.
The stock 373.2cc single-cylinder engine with 44hp of peak power and 35Nm of torque fine-tunes its performance with a shorter intake nozzle. With this change, its performance is increased and the usable speed band is widened.
If you want to get one of these toys you will have to be very fast because only 500 units will be manufactured on demand of the RC 390R at a very affordable price of 8,790 euros, but in exchange you get a whole competition motorcycle.
Direct to Supersport 300
Last year despite the fact that KTM was one of the main candidates to take over the teams of the new Supersport 300 World Championship, the Austrian motorcycles did not make it to the grid due to a timing problem that prevented them from presenting themselves as a viable option.
This 2018 they have not wanted surprises and the Austrian firm is willing to reach the top of a WSBK contest in which they currently have no representation. Therefore, KTM is going to produce in a very limited way 50 conversion kits to SSP 300 per year for their KTM RC 390Rs. A kit consisting of a total of 230 pieces with everything a team may need.
Thus, KTM once again stands out by offering a comprehensive factory customer-racing program with which centralize efforts and lower costs, since all the parts come from KTM Customer Racing and are designed under the homologation of the SSP300 regulation.
The accessory package is made up of absolutely everything allowed by the regulation, with an exhaust Akrapovic SSP300 EVO02 with a specially developed competition control unit, STM slipper clutch, quick change, all wiring, spare wheels, different developments, higher capacity cooling system and a complete light material fairing.
Its price is 11,000 euros (KTM RC 390R apart) and announce that it is only compatible with the 2018 version of the KTM RC 390, not with any 2017 or earlier or for the CUP versions.
