Find the Erzberg mine on a map and take a closer look at it, is it impressive? Well, in it the ErzbergRodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble, an extreme enduro test that this year has fallen into the hands of the Spanish Alfredo Gomez. The Spaniard is the official rider of the KTM Enduro Factory Racing team and has won this test for the first time.
Behind him, Graham Jarvis finished at the controls of a Husqvarna, crossing the finish line at 3 minutes and 22 seconds and in third position, another KTM rider, the American Cody Webb at 5.4 minutes. Each stage of this race is crazy and well worth seeing.
I knew it was difficult
Two hours and 17 minutes have been necessary for Gómez to cross the 25 control points with his KTM 300 EXC and win the victory, “I knew it would be difficult, as it always is, so I have worked very hard together with my team to be ready to this race and it has paid off”.
"This is the biggest win of my career, it's incredible"
The Spaniard had a mishap when they had only been covered 300 meters that lost him some time, but he quickly recovered and managed to get back quite quickly. The conviction passed through his head that he could do it, that could win and he made it through the toughest sections before finding himself facing the last major climb of the course to crown it and become the 2017 ErzbergRodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble Champion.
Alfredo's teammate, Cody Webb, who finished second last year, came to this edition with the desire and determination to improve the result obtained in 2016 and rise with the victory but, some problems during the race and the great performance by Gómez and Jarvis, they have only allowed him to be in third position.
