Second place with a taste of glory

Without giving you time to recover from the hangover of the San Marino Grand Prix, we bring you next a macro-gallery of photos divided by category so you don't miss a single detail of the races and their hiding places. Accompanying them we have compiled the opinions of the leading pilots of this weekend starting with the incident between Dani Pedrosa and Héctor Barberá and continuing with those of Valentino rossi: "They started talking about the future too early, but now I don't know if my decision would have been different"

Valentino Rossi: "Now I don't know if my decision would have been different"

That's how clear it was Valentino after an exciting second place that, despite the absence of two of the most competitive bikes, knew a victory due to the good rhythm found and having felt capable of fighting face to face, for the first time, with other machines such as the Honda or Yamaha satellites. Statements that we have read through our Motocuatro colleagues:

I don't regret it, but the way I see it, this season has started talking about the future too soon, and it's a shame. It would be better to do it after the Brno GP, as was always the case before. But I don't know if my choice would have been the same now. It is evident that I do not have six years ahead to continue racing, this opportunity has presented itself to me and I have taken advantage of it"

Héctor Barberá: "it's a career set, I couldn't do anything to avoid it"

About the incident Dani pedrosa has commented:

I tried to stay focused - without making any mistakes on the first lap, being careful when overtaking several riders - and I was already eighth or ninth when at turn 6, Barberá hit me from behind and that's all over. I am disappointed because, although it seems easy to say now, I think I could have won this race even if I started last. Now, the championship is obviously more uphill for me, but we will continue to do things as before. We have done our best so far, the bike is working well, I am riding well too. So for me this is not over; There are still 5 races left and we will continue to give our best until the end”

And, from the point of view of Hector Barberá:

At no time have I tried to pass him, only that when I suddenly found myself with a more closed path, I could not avoid it. I can only say that it is a race set with the least suitable driver, it is neither my fault nor his. Dani is the last one I wanted to see an incident with.

Álvaro Bautista: "today it was Marco who was driving"

The other great protagonist, leaving aside a smiling Jorge Lorenzo, was Alvaro Bautista:

Jorge Lorenzo

Moto2: gladiators on the track, gentlemen in the paddock

In the intermediate category, there are two characters to listen to after starring a memorable duel on the last lap of the Misano GP.

Marc Márquez:

Being such a short race, it was difficult to think calmly on the bike and that is why the finish was so intense. I have tried to recover by going to the limit on each lap and, when at the end I was able to contact Pol, I tried to overtake him in the first braking where I had a chance and that is where we started the fight, which I think was very nice for the viewer. At each corner I tried to brake as late as possible, and he did the same, but I was able to reach the final two o'clock first and cover all the gaps. It was an important victory, because Pol [Espargaró] has always been fast on this circuit"

Pol Espargaró:

Moto3: power made the difference

TO Maverick Viñales Its Honda engine lacked a handful of horsepower to cope with the Austrian advance. On the last lap Luis Salom had no problem passing to the Japanese-powered FTR in the fast part and thus lost any chance of catching up with Sandro Cortese. Maverick, after calming down a bit, commented:

I have not been nervous, I have been coming back little by little and I have managed to reach the front group. The truth is that I have risked a lot and I was able to place second to Cortese's wheel on the last lap, but we lacked top speed and it was impossible to win.

What's more, Salom passed me in the fast part before the finish line and I couldn't do anything. Finally, Rins passed me at the finish line and I lost the possibility of a podium, it was a shame. Today there were too many differences. Now the title is far away, but I hope that Honda will react even if it is a little late”.

AND Alex Rins, more carefully, he specified:
