Superbikes: Jakub Smrz shows his good feeling with the water
Started the Superpole 1 with sixteen pilots. Of the drivers who are normally more or less in front, the Italian BMW was left out Ayrton badovini. During the first 13 minutes, Joan Lascorz's replacement, Loris Baz (Kawasaki Racing Team) took the reins of qualifying. Michel Fabrizio (BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet) went to the ground with ten minutes to go and a couple of minutes later Loris Baz did the same.
Carlos Checa (Althea Racing) was placed first and on the next lap they dropped their time again, leading by six tenths to Jakub Smrz, who was already showing himself by the positions in front. With three minutes on the scoreboard, Sylvain Guintoli rose to second position, four tenths behind Carlos Checa while Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) climbed to fourth position and sent his teammate Loriz Baz to fifth.
Already with the checkered flag, they danced the intermediate positions. Leon Camier was fourth to be immediately overtaken by Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport). Finally, Carlos Checa's partner, Davide Giugliano slipped into second place beating Sylvain Guintoli by scarcely three hundredths. Outside were people like Loris Baz, Jonathan Rea, Max Biaggi and Eugene Laverty.
Started the Superpole 2 with a Davide Giugliano very strong in the top positions. Until less than three minutes to the checkered flag he held provisional pole but then he crashed when he was improving his lap. Leon Camier then managed to take the lead although Sylvain Guintoli surpassed him and immediately the Englishman improved the best time again.
It looked like the Suzuki rider would wear it but Jakub Smrz appeared to snatch the pole for a mere 36 thousandths. Sylvain Guintoli settled for third position while Carlos Checa, with fall, was seventh more than two and a half seconds from the head, so he will start second row tomorrow. Another of those who went to the ground in a very fast zone was Tom sykes.
