As Ducktoni has pointed out in the comments of the chronicle of the second race of the Superbike World Championship held yesterday in Holland, the canadian pilot Brett mccormick from Liberty Racing Team Effenbert and partner of Jakub Smrz, is in serious condition after hitting the ground during the race.

During the course of lap nine, Brett McCormick was hit by Carlos Checa, which was already running on dry tires after its pit stop. The Spanish rider passed him in one of the fast areas of the circuit and, although it cannot be seen correctly in the image, the Ducati rider had to open the path by leaving the track and falling violently. You can see the video below:

According to the first evaluation that Brett McCormick had at the Assen Circuit, he suffered a trauma to the spine, facial trauma with hematoma in the eye area and fracture of the fifth finger of the right hand. He was transferred to the Assen Hospital for a more in-depth evaluation and to verify the specific extent of the injuries and he has been detected fracture in the fifth and sixth vertebrae although fortunately he does not suffer from neurological complications. Brett McCormick is currently in Groningen Hospital where he is being treated for all of his injuries.
