At the end of last year a soap opera was about to spoil the party of the "official" Ducati team in Superbikes. Carlos Checa had just won the title that made him World Champion but a piece of news came to the fore: the alleged financial irregularities of Althea Cerámica, the main sponsor of the team. Thus began a series of events that led to the millionaire offer that BMW put on the table for Carlos to run under the Bavarian colors.
Well, then, many media soon published the story of these irregularities that made Ducati distrust the company and, therefore, left the entire team hanging by a thread. They had been champions and, although they wanted to, they could not continue together. However, a long conversation between Althea and Ernesto Marinelli led Ducati to give them a vote of confidence for these years and finally the Catalan was able to continue riding the Ducati 1098R with his teammates. Now, the Court of Viterbo has acquitted Alhea of any accusation related to her financing.
