As we said yesterday, the SYM Symmetry is thought as One hundred percent urban vehicle and focused for small trips within the urban area. If we had to look for another possible place where to take advantage of all the peculiarities of this small electric vehicle, it would be in closed enclosures. And so we have verified it in the video that we show you later and that you can't miss.

For example, I have seen malls in which the security guards move around on a gasoline scooter, inside underground car parks. A simple electric scooter like the SYM Symmetry would be ideal since its speed within the facilities is reduced and with 60 kilometers of autonomy they would have more than enough. Or for example, housing estates, marinas, fairgrounds… The possibilities are multiple but without leaving aside, as we said at the beginning, the city.

With these ideas hovering in my head I thought about what could be the ideal environment to test a scooter with these characteristics and suddenly the facilities of the Atlantic Botanical Garden of Gijón came to mind. I got in touch with them and they quickly gave me all kinds of facilities to access their interior and power enjoy the wonderful environment and also in a privileged way, motorized but in an ecological way and in silence, thus being able to enjoy all the sounds that the newly released spring gave to my ears.

SYM Symmetry

And is that the SYM Symmetry, like all electric motorcycles, they are the easiest to start and handle. You just have to turn the ignition key and the display will light up, showing us the charge level. This is the only indication we have to know that the scooter is ready to move.

We turn the throttle grip and immediately, noting perfectly the absence of transmission or any other coupling element, the SYM Symmetry begins to advance silently. I have to admit that I thought it would make less noise but as soon as it picks up a bit of speed, you only get to perceive the tires rubbing against the asphalt and a slight hiss. The rest is all silence an absolute silence that surrounds everything.

Circulating along the roads of Atlantic Botanical Garden, I quickly realized that suspensions are very dry in its moron, or rather, not very absorbent. This and its ten-inch wheels make it more comfortable the less bumpy and smooth the place where we drive.

SYM Symmetry

Regarding the brakes, as we said, there is power to spare. The SYM Symmetry It does not reach 60 kilos for very little so it does not need disc brakes with a radial pump or anything like that. A few simple drum brakes are more than enough, although here there is no regenerative braking as in other models, so when we cut gas (I remind you that the throttle grip does not return alone but must always be accompanied), we continue moving by inertia a few meters.

You notice a little lack of power on slopes. According to the manufacturer, the maximum slope that can be overcome without problems is 10º. The ramp of the garage was choking a bit coming from a standstill and you had to paddle a bit with your legs but once you get a bit of inertia, there were no major problems. Man, if you live in a very mountainous place, it still falls a bit short.

It is small, narrow and short between axles, with the battery on the platform which translates into a very low center of gravity and a surprising agility. It behaves like a bicycle, or I could almost say like a scooter. And speaking of the battery, there came a time when it had to be recharged, but you better see it in the video:

Video

Well yes, what a surprise when with everything prepared I realized that the battery is completely removable and therefore it is not necessary that we have an outlet in the garage to charge it. We just have to disconnect it, bring it home together with the charger and plug it comfortably into any outlet we have. Of course, connecting and disconnecting the plug from the motorcycle requires a bit of skill and takes a little time to get the hang of it since the site is quite small. There is also the possibility of charge it without removing it, just by removing the platform cover and connecting it calmly to the charger.

Loading is a bit slow since if we have the battery completely discharged and taking into account that it is not of too much capacity, we will have to wait approximately six hours so that it returns to being one hundred percent. For those who need a bit more speed when charging, there is a quick charger as an option.

SYM Symmetry

There is a fairly large gap under the seat. He does not take a full face helmet but an open one and it is quite deep. Right in front of it there is a small hook to carry a bag, taking advantage of the fact that the platform is completely flat. By the way, the seat closure is a bit particular since it is necessary to push it down strongly for the latch to act.

By the way, for the skeptics who think that plastics will fly away or something, no problem, it is more than proven. The SYM Symmetry It just exceeds 50 km / h but it has gone behind, in the trailer, at 90 km / h and we did not lose any parts. There is no better wind tunnel to try it than this one, hahaha …

Finally, comment that SYM Symmetry price is 2,499. Yes, I know that it is not exactly cheap but it is what usually happens with the first models of a new technology, in this case the electric one. Perhaps its range of use is very limited but maintenance and electricity costs are ridiculous, which in the long run will compensate its use.
