How quickly time passes! It seems that it was yesterday when I sat here to try to summarize what was my first year here, 2010, and I am ready to reel off again. what has caught my attention the most in 2011. A 2011 that in sports has not been as successful as many of us would have liked, but that has undoubtedly given much of itself and many things to talk about. So let's start …
And what better than to do it with speed competitions, those that I love so much. If I had to keep just one thing from this whole year, that would undoubtedly be Carlos Checa's success in the Superbike World Championship, where he has swept away and made us enjoy a lot. Also, we all like this man so who is not happy about this title? Very big Carlitos. But of course there is more, as I cannot forget Nico Terol, who brought us home the last title in the 125cc category, even though he made us suffer more than expected.
But there are a few names that have made me enjoy this 2011: Maverick Viñales, Marc Márquez, Jorge Lorenzo (which I liked more than in his champion year), Ben spies that stood me up in Assen, Eugene laverty… And a long etcetera. And obviously, in this summary, I cannot miss the man who made us have the worst morning of the year, Marco Simoncelli, of whom I still cannot get used to the idea that he will not be on the grid in 2012. Hard moments when one of ours is he.
Personally, if I have to choose a race because I have it clear, the last Superbike appointment in Portimao, why? Well, because I had the opportunity to experience it in the front row, because of the pleasant trip from Algeciras that I will not forget and because of the possibility of sharing all this with all of you. You are going to forgive me, but the emotion that overwhelms me in those events, overcomes me, hehehe …
But not all year has been sport, far from it. And if last year I already told you what I enjoyed with Pau Vidal's trip to American lands, this year there has been no less the attention (and some envy) with which I have followed the trip of our colleague Albi (yes, the one who hangs from rafters) by Morocco. Nor do I want to leave the play Luis made on me on a Friday afternoon. I get home tired from working and I try to relax with the video that the friend put here, but no, what it does is get my tears out. Without words, he left me the video of the grandmothers.
As to the evidence that we have been able to see, I have to take two: on the one hand, the Ducati Diavel, which Miki Viñola was lucky enough to test as long as we were able to enjoy it in these parts. I have already said on occasion that this bike is not my devotion, but I do not stop admitting that it has undoubtedly been one of the bikes of the year. And on the other hand, the Aprilia Tuono V4 R APRC, which friend Morrillu could enjoy to the envy (once again) of the one who is now writing.
And I could go on for hours and hours, because a year goes a long way, and here my colleagues are real machines who don't miss a single one. So you are going to allow me to get sentimental (it has taken my fool day), but really It is an immense pleasure and continuous learning to be able to share in this beautiful way the passion that, after all, unites us all. And nothing else, to prepare for a 2012 that will surely leave us a thousand things to tell, hopefully all good.
