The days, the weeks and the months passed since the British Superbikes came to an end with Tommy hill as champion in 2011 and we were still without any news. It was to be expected that after several years in the category Tommy would decide to take a big leap in his career to finish in Superbikes or even MotoGP with a CRT. But as time went on, more doors closed and the Surrey pilot's chances grew slimmer. Finally, to everyone's surprise, the Swan Yamaha announced that the current champion would stay at least one more year with them to defend the title in 2012.
Of all that we could hope for, this is surely one of the best news. First, because this championship gives us one more incentive to continue race after race, increasing the level of the BSB pilots again and secondly because sometimes it is better to be the head of a mouse than the tail of a lion. What's more the challenge in 2012 is much greater than it might seem at first because the new regulation equalizes the forces to the maximum.
