A few weeks ago we were surprised to learn that the teammate of Alvaro Bautista at San Carlo Honda Gresini on MotoGP I would not ride a Honda RC213V, I would ride one of the new CRT. Now we know who will be the lucky one, which is none other than Michele Pirro, who already knows what it's like to work with Fausto Gresini's team after his Moto2 season with them.
It must be remembered that Michele was the winner of the last (and emotional) race of the season in Valencia, and now Fausto believes that he is the most suitable rider to bring this project to fruition. The Italian rider will race with a CRT that carries a chassis FTR about the engine of a Honda CBR1000R. Of course, Michele has been very satisfied with the agreement, although he has had his doubts:
Obviously, my namesake Fausto has also been very happy with this agreement, and they have no doubt that he is the ideal driver to develop the CRT of his team:
Well, a good opportunity, without a doubt, for Michele to make a little hole in the premier class, also in one of the CRTs, which seem to be the future towards which MotoGP will walk. An interesting season is presented to Gresini's team, with the interesting (although sad by the circumstances) signing of Bautista and the adventure with the CRT. For my part, as I have no remedy, I am already looking forward to racing, and we have just finished.
