This reflection comes to mind after seeing the article by my co-writer Morrillu announcing part of the team of commentators who will have the responsibility of reporting and broadcasting the races next season. It's a good time for analysis to see what has been done so far Both as for well and for worse. If there are things that work, I think you should continue to bet on them, even if they are not homegrown ideas. Likewise, it is necessary to take advantage of to improve or change the wrong thing.

In this sense, for tastes are the colors and It often happens that what is pleasing to some, displeasing to others and vice versa. For this same reason I leave you my impressions of what I personally liked about the broadcasts this year and what I hope they should, and should not offer for 2012. I invite you all to give your opinion on this. We will get into the matter below.

Necessary advertising, or not

Here the question is to see if the world championship is sustainable at the level of spending, leaving aside the income from direct television advertising. According to my point of view and seeing for example this previous year in which we have not had publicity in the races, it is evident that if you can. Losing money by not having ads I do not think it is lost, the problem is that you don't win. It is a very juicy plot that is simply known to be profitable and it is impossible to resist exploiting it. In this it can be presumed that Dorna will not have gotten off the donkey when it comes to charging television rights to RTVE since the bill to this chain is the same with or without advertising. It follows then that it is not interesting to cover one of the largest motor shows worldwide because the amount paid is not recovered if no ads are included.

Also, remember that the prohibition of advertising on RTVE was a law in every rule and not a deference of the chain for its citizens, an important detail to take into account. If you have to tighten your belt and avoid spending someone has to start doing it and I deduce that as always, the last link in the chain will do it, the public who will have to endure advertisements at the most inopportune moments. Another thing that strikes me, and I admit that I speak from ignorance, is the way to manage this advertising. I comment on it because if it is known that the viewer complains so much about these advertising cuts at such inappropriate times, do these spots really benefit those spots? In other words, Would you buy that brand of watches or yogurts that makes broadcasts bitter with their ads?. I of course not, but there must be other management systems such as making points in which, thanks to an advertising firm, the last five laps of the race are fully respected, for example.

The reality show

The last straw In my opinion, it was the sad and recent death of the Italian rider at Sepang, Marco Simoncelli. It could be seen very clearly by everyone, how in the television broadcast the horrifying images of the accident were omitted, with very good judgment, but almost instantly they were available on the web of RTVE. Was it so important to give that "scoop"?. It is evident that sooner or later the videos and images would go around the world. The question is whether it is worth being the first to announce such a misfortune. Not to mention photographs from all possible angles of the event seen on the websites of reputed sports newspapers in this country. It must be recognized that the news must be given quickly but personally I prefer to write an article with a certain calm in which readers can participate with their comments. That is the trump card of the blog format, the dialogue with your readers or the "feedback" that is said now. For my taste the speed of the press, to put it in some way, is relative.

As I comment, this is only the straw that has filled a glass that has been filling during the year since I believe that the privacy of the pilots and their environment is less and less respected. Formats like Paddock GP I think there are plenty. The cameras and microphones have been closer than ever to the protagonists. Images and anecdotes have been seen such as, to mention something recent, the tension experienced in the Aspar Team in the middle of the starting grid due to a choice of tires. In this case, I do not deny that it is visually interesting and exciting for the viewer, but on other occasions the face of the runners reveals a pressure from the media that borders on anguish and is information that on many occasions does not contribute anything more than the curiosity of seeing a moment of tension, to see a place, or to listen to a conversation supposedly until now oblivious to the gaze of the cameras and microphones.

I must admit that I like the technique of motorcycles and the ins and outs of racing like anyone else. I remember one year at the Montmeló GP when I couldn't buy tickets to see the race from one of the curves of the circuit and I had to resort to a seat on the starting grid. I thought it would be a boring GP to see only motorcycles go by at high speed on the finish line but thanks to binoculars found out how awesome pit work. The coordination of the team members is impressive, how they disassemble parts in seconds with astonishing speed. I never thought I would enjoy watching all this so much, but from the circuit. I think the boxes should be, at least on television, a terrain where drivers and teams have peace of mind and privacy.

The gatherings and debates before and after the races

Just as I think there is plenty of Paddock GP, the minutes dedicated to the debate and the gathering should be extended. And in that sense if that I see a success in the Moto GP Club formula. Very interesting testimonies have been seen and very well explained in language that we can all understand. Continuing with recent examples, I stay with Héctor Barberá's statements when he explained the difference between factory and official motorcycles. It can be said louder but not clearer with a concise but above all very close language. Here if the protagonists have a lot to say and very interesting.

Those who have taken the reins of all this so far may like more or less but I am one of those who believes that nobody expressly wants to do things wrong and I do not want to extend myself in valuing their work but of all that team, I want to make a mention of the teacher Dennis Noyes. Regardless of his years of experience in "the circus" and his wisdom, what I like most about this man is that knows how to give his opinion without underestimating the other's which few know how to do. And that from time to time puts everyone on the ground when conversations go to other areas such as fame or millionaire contracts remembering when they ran with straw bales and the boxes were tents. An example of humility that must spread. Maybe that's what I notice missing in the broadcasts, humility. For my taste, of course.
