Brutal is the qualifier of the race that Valentino Rossi has done in Misano (with donkey ears included by the crash in Indianapolis). Not only did he start strong in practice and getting pole, but today was one of those days when it was seen that he wanted to win over anything else. In the end Valentino Rossi leaves GP San Marino with an undeniable hat trick: pole, victory and fastest race lap.
The start of the race started with the usual script, with Dani Pedrosa starting very fast and passing the chicane first. Very rugged chicaneAs Álex De Angelis, prey to the desire to do well in his GP, took places from Colin Edwards, Nicky Hayden and almost yes to Jorge Lorenzo. The anger of the Kentucky was inversely proportional to the attitude of De Angelis crestfallen and without knowing where to go.
Dani Pedrosa was trying to open a hole, followed by a great Toni Elías (There is Toni, Toni if more or less you were always like this …) and after them Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. A few laps, Lorenzo gave the corresponding ax to the leader of the ranks, but in view of Pedrosa and Elías opening a gap while starring in a beautiful duel, Rossi returned to pass the Majorcan and would print the colossal race rhythm at the turn fast in 1:34.
That way he would hunt down Toni Elías and Pedrosa, with Lorenzo at the wheel and the Italian would decide that it was time to escape if he wanted to win and get out of trouble. Dani Pedrosa endured in front of Lorenzo, but he would finally be overtaken, and already halfway through the race the podium was seen for sentence with Rossi leading, Lorenzo at 3.5 seconds and Pedrosa at about 4 seconds behind the Majorcan. After the race, we know that Pedrosa was alerted by the motorcycle of an engine failure "at a slower pace than the Yamaha" as he said in the playpen. And just after passing the finish line as the icing on the cake, the bike stopped. In Misano the engine of his Honda has been somewhat delicate since training (remember the breakdown).
Toni Elijah he was losing steam until he stayed with Andrea Dovizioso who would surpass him and Loris Capirossi in fifth place. Manresa would finish sixth in the race. Suzuki's Italian shortened the gap and was about to achieve the best result of the season, but fourth position on the last lap would be recovered by his compatriot from HRC. Dovizioso has once again put into practice the skill that characterized him in 125 and 250: The wheel on the last lap is unforgiving, and not even Capirossi's seniority has been an obstacle to it.
From behind with the opening strike, a few have won such as Mika Kallio, Marco Melandri, Chris Vermeulen, James Toseland … from seventh to tenth, when at the beginning of the race I painted that they would be further behind. Aléix Espargaró has signed a great eleventh position, although apparently he will have to be intervened for the well-known compartment syndrome: to take advantage of the fact that there is a month in between to Australia.
In short, a good race, although somewhat soporific in its final part. And an unbeatable purgatory for Valentino Rossi who has compensated for the stupidity of Indianapolis, as he himself has caricatured the fall.
