Between October 11 and 16, 2009, the BMW GS Desert Spirit, a recreational-sports activity where the skills of the participants on the motorcycle, the ability to guide and interpret unknown terrain using GPS and teamwork will be the basic elements.

The teams will be made up of 2 people with 2 motorcycles and optionally 1 assistance team. The spine of the BMW GS Desert Spirit It is a road book, which will include multiple Way Points (WP) marked by coordinates and illustrative photographs. On each day there will be a series of special tests designed to mark the differences between the participants.

Each WP has a value between 0 and 10 points, depending on the difficulty of access and location, which, together with the track (route between departure and arrival) and scores in special tests, will give the final classification. Therefore, each team must propose its best strategy at each stage to obtain the highest possible number of points.

The BMW GS Desert Spirit combines competition with tourism and leisure. Therefore, the start of each day will be at 7 am and will end at 2 pm. The rest of the day will be used to carry out tourist visits, rest and carry out maintenance operations (who needs it). At the end of the afternoon all the participants will be concentrated to give them a briefing for the next day and give them the corresponding road book.
