We already anticipated that this Sunday's race could be very exciting, and it has been, until the penultimate corner we had a race from you to you between Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. By a very small difference (well, like four times the difference between pole and second …) Valentino Rossi is the winner of the Catalan Grand Prix 2009, he regained the leadership of the world championship despite that triple lead tie, something that is extremely rare to happen, but which luckily we can enjoy this year: three drivers tied for points and victories.

Jorge Lorenzo was phenomenal, coming off the pole he seemed to have mastered the subject but what to say about Rossi, he has sincerely demonstrated once again improvement and power on the track, I think that hasty braking at the end of the main straight has been the best. of the last times. And above all because of that knee movement so as not to touch Jorge Lorenzo: incredible.

I think that in this post we are going to focus on the two great protagonists, teammates and rivals of the good guys, those who put the cards on the table face up in the last laps. In my judgement Rossi and Lorenzo were today light years from the rest off the grid, you just have to see how Casey Stoner, third overwhelmed by Andrea Dovizioso, finished in another great fourth place. But it is that Stoner was faint, disfigured and exhausted by the heat and brutal effort of this Sunday.

We will return in another post about Stoner, Divizioso, Pedrosa and the others, that this race offers a lot to talk about.

Are 99 victories for Valentino Rossi thanks to the one achieved today in Montmeló, and I think it is one of the sweetest victories for him because from what we have seen today the most rogue won. Rossi was the most rogue because he waited, he did not rush, he looked for the key curve (it was very risky to hit the ax in the last corner, I think in that case Lorenzo would have won) and it still worked out well.

While we watched the last two laps of the race, almost without breathing, we commented at home that Lorenzo deserved to win because showed big gallons on the track, he shut out Rossi when he had to, and flawlessly too. But when we saw the final attack, we surrendered like I think the whole world to that added value that Rossi puts on the track, at key moments.

It is clear that I loved the race, and that Rossi won, but honestly the tie on points with which we left Montmeló on the way to Assen is the best indication that this year any of the three in the lead is worthy of the title of world champion. Whoops three.
