This week, from the hand of BMW Triocar, we bring you a German motorcycle, the BMW F800R, just arrived at the dealerships, and that we already brought you closer to a little over a month ago, when Pau attended the presentation held in Barcelona. As on that occasion, the weather did not help at all, but in the end I have been able to draw the odd conclusion.

As we mentioned, the BMW F800R it comes to complete the F range, together with the F800S and F800ST introduced in 2006 and, later, the F800GS and F650GS; all of them equipped with the same parallel twin engine. Aesthetically, it is very similar to its older sister, the K1300R, and although it is smaller, it still feels great at its controls.

BMW F800R, first impressions

The German brand has decided to incorporate more common elements in this motorcycle, in order to give it a more competitive price. Thus, in the front end, resort to a conventional fork and the final transmission it is made by chain, eliminating the strap that equips its sisters S and ST. In my opinion, they may want to avoid the greater loss of power suffered by motorcycles equipped with belt versus those equipped with chain, highlighting their sporty character.

On the front, its double headlight of different sizes stands out (it reminds me of Popeye), which precedes a table of watches formed by a double superimposed sphere (speedometer and revolution counter) and a display on its right that reports a lot of data: total and two partial kilometers, time, current consumption, average consumption, average speed, range, temperature, stopwatch and gear engaged. As an option, you can mark the tire pressure and some other additional data. Except for the total and partial trip, the rest is managed from a button located in the upper part of the left pineapple (where the short / long control would go). Finally, the box lights up automatically depending on the exterior light, although in some very illuminated tunnel, I observed that it turned on a little late.

Continuing with the controls, on the left pineapple we also have the activation of the four turn signals, the horn and the turn signal switch, conventional, thus leaving BMW's tendency to put a button on each pineapple and another to disconnect them. But how the germans are very much theirs, The novelty has been included in the headlight control, which also works to activate the high beams in a very similar way to cars: putting your finger behind the control and pushing forward the high beams are activated. Going backwards, the crossovers are activated. Pressing, the bursts, as in the rest of the motorcycles.

On top of the right pineapple, heated grips connect (How warm I was on the weekend) and the motorcycle stop button, which includes pressing down, the start button (another way to get out of the conventional). The lights come on automatically as soon as the engine is started.

The posture is very comfortable. The feet are quite high, but the handlebars are very close, so you maintain a fairly upright position that does not tire your wrists at any time. The seat is very wide at the back and narrow in the area of the false tank (this is located under the seat). With these forms, it facilitates sporty or tourist driving, as you prefer. The rider area ends in a small hump, which helps stop the rear end and prevents the passenger from rolling forward when braking. In addition, it integrates perfectly with the optional seat cover.

But I imagine you are already tired of hearing data. Tomorrow we will go for a ride
