The FIM has announced a change in tire regulations of the MotoGP category. Until now, drivers had 8 front tires and 12 rear tires, half of one compound and half of the other.
Given that each brand is better adapted to one compound or another, they have decided to allow each of the teams choose various combinations of front tires for the next race. Of course, the choice will have to be within two hours of the end of the previous Grand Prix, so the motorcycles that already had Japanese tires will have to review the data from last year, while those that used Michelin, they will have to do it a little by eye.
The different combinations they can make are the following:
- 3 "A" specifications + 5 "B" specifications
- 4 “A” specifications + 4 “B” specifications
- 5 "A" specifications + 3 "B" specifications
When the Assen Grand Prix concludes on June 24, it will be the first time that drivers will choose the combination for the Red Bull United States Grand Prix.
According to the FIM:
Will this improve the show? Will it make it easy for teams to make mistakes? Does the FIM hit the blind man?
