In recent years, cities have become a territory dominated by scooters. Scooters have improved a lot and for many motorists they have become the urban vehicle par excellence, and even many people who have a large motorcycle to use on the weekend and travel, surrender to the scooter from Monday to Friday.

But fortunately, there are motorcycles like this Honda VTR 250 for those of us who prefer a traditional motorcycle for daily life. Okay, they may not be as comfortable as scooters with their automatic gears and body styles, but they convey an authentic feel and unparalleled driving pleasure. Personally, every time I have ridden a scooter, I have not liked either the posture or the driving sensations. The Honda VTR 250 proves that there is still life for the “real” urban motorcycle. Anyway, I am left with the desire to do a comparative test comparing the Honda Scoopy 300 and the Honda VTR 250. Two ways of seeing the world that I fear will be just as effective. That is, once again, that of For taste the colors were made. But I prefer the motorcycle!

When getting on the Honda VTR 250 the first thing that catches your attention is the lightness of the whole. It really is a very narrow and very light bike, which conveys an unbeatable feeling of handling. When stopped, the motorcycle moves with great ease, which will undoubtedly be an important element for handling in the city.

The seat has been lowered compared to the previous version. In fact, for my taste, it has been lowered too much, leaving the driver's space with a marked cradle in which to fit. This height reduction allows it to be a motorcycle accessible to everyone, especially the female audience and younger people, but it also makes it difficult to move on the seat in the curves to the taller people.

The handlebar is tall and quite wide, leaving the arms with a natural and comfortable posture. In front of the driver, a frontal dominated by two large analog clocks: the speedometer and the tachometer. Between the two watches, the usual group of indicator lights. A very classic image in which there is not such a fashionable digital panel on today's motorcycles. Although what is really missing is a gasoline level indicator.

It had been a long time since I had driven a motorcycle with such low displacement, so I was curious to see how it would behave. And from the moment of the start, I must admit that I was surprised and captivated. The bike moves freely and feels fun. As expected when standing still, the sensation of handling and lightness is maximum, and that is the main thing to be effective in daily traffic in towns and cities. It has a good start from a standstill and enough torque allows it to move without having to do excessive gear shifting. Being a narrow bike, it can be easily roamed around and into almost any gap. The turning radius is sufficient and in addition, the height of the handlebar allows you to move well between the mirrors of the cars.

Come on, the bike is perfect for the city. Just a remarkable "but", which is to blame for that beautiful line: the load capacity. Do you Who would dare to put a trunk on it at this beauty? Definitely, the aesthetics of the VTR 250 is not designed to carry packages, and this is the only limitation that I find for everyday urban use. Under the seat there is a small hole in which we can leave the mobile phone and the wallet but little else. In short, the lack of carrying capacity is still a good excuse to buy a smaller laptop and empty the briefcase full of papers that many of us drag around every day.

We leave the city and next Wednesday we will find out how our little friend behaves beyond the traffic lights, curve to curve.
