After a short photo session in front of the Chinchón castle, it was time to choose another motorcycle and head towards Villaconejos, Aranjuez and Toledo. I wanted to try the K 1300 R then, but it was not possible and I got the GT.

The GT has a much more comfortable driving position than the S, since obviously its approach is completely different. The handlebar is located in a very rearward position, so that the driving position, with the footpegs located far forward, is perfect for devouring kilometers and kilometers without flinching.

At the exit from Chinchón, an area of downhill curves allowed me to see how the GT behaves on this terrain, which is not exactly what it was designed for. The 288 kilos of weight, the width of its body and carrying suitcases back did not invite too much to knock down, but the truth that the GT was very agile and showed that it does not disgust these types of areas.

Long and endless straights soon opened up before us, where the GT should show its full potential. The road that awaited us seemed to be designed to enjoy this bike, and I never remembered the R that I wanted to try.

The front protection screen is electrically adjustable. As soon as I got down the first straight, I realized that I was carrying it in the lowest position, because as soon as I started to twist my fist and go really fast, the air was constantly against my head. I then pressed the button located on the left pineapple and problem solved, the screen went up a couple of centimeters and the aerodynamic protection was already complete.

The day was quite cold due to the fog, and I took the opportunity to warm my hands and butt a bit with the heated grips and seats, two options that are priced at 240 euros each. This is a luxury that is appreciated …

The engine of the K 1300 GT produces 160 horsepower, and its character is noticeably different from that of the K 1300 S. Power is delivered in a much more linear fashion, and while above 6,000 revs the engine also packs a lot of punch and character, it doesn't quite get “pranced” like the K 1300 S I'd tested before.

Along the way we come across many trucks driving along the long straights, trucks from which we protect ourselves hidden behind the large fairing of the GT. The behavior of its engine, which has a lot of torque and incredible resilience, meant that it was in sixth gear for most of the tour. No matter how low the revs we go, we give gas and in an instant the bike recovers and speeds up with force, allowing us to overtake comfortably and safely.

The driver's seat is, in addition to the sides of the fairing, the new instrument panel and some other details, one of the parts that changes in the K 1300 GT. Now this is narrower than in the 1200, and its padding is very comfortable. We did the tour at a very high pace, and the fact is that bringing so much power under the rear and such good aerodynamic protection, invited us to hit and hit the gas.

Upon my arrival in Toledo after approximately 50 kilometers of high pace, I felt like I had just gotten up, and the comfort of the GT makes it a perfect motorcycle to enjoy long trips as a couple. To be able to do this, you must first pay out the 19,600 euros that this new motorcycle costs, which like the rest of the range will be on sale on March 5 in dealerships.

We can also put it “fully equipped” with the long list of accessories, which includes xenon lights, tire pressure control, traction control, speed control and many more accessories that can turn the K 1300 GT into a second motorhome.
