Bad day yesterday for Marc Coma in the eighth stage of the Tunis Rally. The test has turned upside down in the general classification due to the problems with the rear tire mousse that the drivers have been dragging on since the Dakar Rally. This problem resides in the fact that the stages with very fast sections, the wheel gets too hot, disintegrating the rear mousse. This, which replaces the air inside the wheel and prevents it from puncturing, by disappearing causes the tire to slip, for which the pilots are forced to carry out an emergency repair or continue driving on the rim itself.
Although Marc tried to keep the rear tire, 25 kilometers from the finish line he started to have problems and the last four kilometers have been done on the rim itself. The stage has been for the French Cyril Despres followed by Pal Ullevalseter. Marc entered third, more than sixteen minutes behind the winner, so he gave up the first place in the general classification to Cyril and placed second almost nine minutes away.
Jordi Viladoms has suffered the same problem, but with the fortune that it was before refueling that he took advantage of the mandatory 15-minute break they have to do at this point to put a camera on the wheel. Later, he caught up with Francisco López and rode with him until the end of the stage.
Today, 313 kilometer special with fast tracks and dunes. Only three days left.
