The Repsol Honda team has just confirmed that its star rider Dani Pedrosa will finally travel to Laguna Seca to try to race despite the injuries he suffered in Germany. In the words of the pilot himself “According to my doctor, Dr. Xavier Mir, we have decided to fly to the United States and do my best to run this weekend. We are aware that it will not be easy and that we won't know my precise condition until I get on the bike on Friday morning."
Dani has noticed how goal to add as many points as possible, to stay with options to the title. His teammate Nicky Hayden will try to be in front and thus help Pedrosa lose the minimum number of points possible against his rivals. The American who won in 2005 and 2006 there needs a moral boost to restore his confidence on the bike. Hayden arrives eagerly to Laguna Seca: “I am eager to go to Laguna Seca, even if we have had a bit of bad fortune in the last few races. Hopefully things will change for us. It would be nice to be able to start over there and stay that way all weekend, Friday through Sunday. Whatever happens I'll keep pushing. It is true that Laguna has a special place in my heart. The circuit itself is like a very long lap, is not divided into distinct sections; a lot of the corners are in series, so you have to prepare the lap very well. Because if you do the "Corkscrew" wrong, you lose in the next three or four corners. It's a very technical track and I really love it. Career in your own country is always something special and I don't take it lightly. In my first two years in MotoGP there was no Grand Prix in the US, which makes me love it even more. I wouldn't say it's like driving at home, in terms of getting to know him thoroughly, because we've been there for three years and three races, so I don't think I have an advantage. But the fans of my country have to help me with something. Last year we had some problems, it was the worst circuit in terms of tire performance in the whole year. But I am impatient because I have seen how much Michelin has improved on all circuits this year."
Pedrosa He has also said: Obviously it is a complicated moment for me, but I really want to; if it is possible to ride the bike in conditions, I really want to do it. Laguna Seca is a very physically demanding circuit when you are in top condition, so it will be hard with injuries, but I know that the people around me will support me to get be in the best possible shape. Laguna is what is called an “old school” circuit, with many ups and downs, banked curves and counterbalances. There is a very good atmosphere there and the fans are very respectful of the drivers. We'll see what I can do. I would like to thank everyone around me, and also my fans, for all the support over the last few days”.
Dani is sure to bring out those hidden forces that motorcycle riders have and put on a great performance in Laguna Seca.
