Yesterday Sunday I went to VI Alicante City Market to see friends and go for a walk, you never know if you can find a classic at a bargain price. Unfortunately, the bargains no longer exist, and what you can find that is worthwhile is usually reasonably expensive so that you consider well what you can buy or not. The luck of those of us who like classic motorcycles is that in these places we always find some noteworthy restoration, and this time it was not going to be less.

Hidden in the middle of the market was this Kawasaki Mach III 500. For those of you who are not familiar with this type of motorcycle, at the end of the sixties, the world was proliferating the Super Bikes of the style of the Honda CB. But Kawasaki engineers could not put a motorcycle on the market to use, so they designed this Mach III 500. A true rocket of the time. Derived from the two-cylinder W1, the Japanese thought that if a bi was good, a tri would be great, and it was.

With a weight of only 152 kilos promised a power of 60 CV. All power and acceleration. The bike sold like bagels. But soon the common problems in the motorcycles of the time, a lot of power, mediocre brakes and a chassis almost laughable it made it extremely difficult to get into curves. Another weak point of this motorcycle was the consumption, 5 liters per 100 of gasoline with oil made it impractical to travel.

In the meantime in Spain we had to put up with seeing these motorcycles in the hands of tourists who came in summer. Because the national market was still closed for large motorcycles that were not Spanish. The example you see here was for sale for 6000 euros. Expensive or cheap? You will have to decide for yourself. Here is a gallery with photos of what most caught my attention at the market.
